Young blood take the honours
On a bitterly cold November evening, members of the YBS Band gathered at the Cedar Court Hotel in Huddersfield for the YBS Annual Awards Dinner.
In addition to the presentations it was a time to reflect on a year that started in extreme uncertainty but is now ending with a fine band with happy and committed players.
Richard Evans, Morgan Griffiths and Band Manager Allan Holdsworth received awards in recognition for their hard work in a challenging but rewarding year. The main prizes were for Bandsman of the Year and Player of the Year.
Talented Huddersfield University percussionist, Matthew Mills was voted Bandsman of the Year for his dedication, enthusiasm and for going above and beyond the call of duty; he is an exceptional player and a valued member of the band.
The award for Player of the Year went to another young Huddersfield University student, Daniel Brooks the band’s solo trombone player who has blossomed into a top class principal and plays with panache and flair in contests and concerts alike.
YBS Band would like to publicly congratulate and thank Richard Evans, Morgan Griffiths, Allan Holdsworth, Tracey White, Daniel Brooks, Matthew Mills and the band’s many fans for their unwavering support, dedication and positiveness.
