Morgan Griffiths, the principal euphonium of the YBS Band has been confirmed as the new Resident Conductor of the band.
Morgan said he felt it was a great honour for him to become an integral part of shaping the bands musical future. “I really am delighted to have been appointed to the position of Resident Conductor. I have been working in this role since the beginning of the year, but for the position to be formalised is great news.”

In the near future the YBS Band are to travel to Norway to perform at the Grenland Festival, and Morgan has been formulating the programme the band will play there.
Sense of purpose
Morgan commented ”YBS has been through some testing times of late, but we now have a clear sense of purpose about ourselves. We are very nearly at full strength with further signings to come and the atmosphere within the band is excellent. I am very grateful to Mike Kilroy who has stepped in play when I am conducting – he is a superb bandsman.”
Exciting times
Spokesman for the band commented, “Morgan was the outstanding candidate for this role, he has lots of fresh value to add to the band and of course he will remain an integral part of the playing membership on contests” These are exciting times for the YBS Band and we are proud that Morgan will be the spearhead.
